In this class, we’ll go over multiple areas of longarm quilting:
- Free-motion quilting
- Ruler work
- Q-matic software (hands-free automated quilting)
You will be able to try out free-motion quilting, explore ruler work quilting for a test drive to get perfectly straight lines and curves, and even touch on the BERNINA Q-matic system where the computer will make adjustments and make your quilting look perfect! We will move around the room trying out all of the longarm options: Q24 on a proframe (13′ with hydraulics) with Q-matic, studio frame (10′ frame) with a Q20, and the sit down options (Q16) that are available on lift tables or folding tables. So many options for you to make the right decision for you!
The best part about this class: Adam is all about having fun while you learn! It’s a relaxed atmosphere with an internationally recognized longarm educator. You will also be able to test drive different longarms from the BERNINA lineup. He will discuss what makes a BERNINA longarm machine the longarm that is right for you, and once you decide longarm quilting is the way to go, that’s when the fun starts!
BERNINA machines offer a choose your own adventure – different configurations with many table and frame options to fit you perfectly. So come, spend the day playing with longarms, asking questions, but most of all…laughing and learning the day away. Hope to see you there!

Adam Rateliff grew up wanting to be a teacher. During college, he thought he would teach accounting, but now he gets to share a true passion every day with his followers. He would have never guessed that he would one day be an internationally recognized longarm teacher.
Adam learned to sew at a young age. He remembers sitting and watching his mother in the kitchen as she flipped her sewing machine out of the table and got to work. She taught him the basics of sewing and most of the fiber arts then. After college, while working as an accountant, he started quilting. This is where he found his love of BERNINA. Quilting became a part of his life, and he really found a passion and desire for it. Now he is happy to say that everyone in his family who sews, sews on a BERNINA.
In 2016, Adam purchased his first longarm and has been teaching ever since. He isn’t one to shy away from a challenge and will play until he finds a solution. Adam also brings a fresh view to the quilt world, looking for and taking out-of-the-box projects to bring to the longarm, frequently with tutorials on his YouTube channel. He has been a national educator since 2018, teaching consumers how to use a longarm, but more importantly, showing new owners that anyone can do it. His favorite part of teaching is when a once-timid student leaves with a new machine. He has a strong history of successful events, working with retailers to ensure shared goals are met.
You might know him as his social media personality, Adam Sew Fun. In 2020, he started a successful channel that he is excited to welcome BERNINA to. He is thrilled to be a part of the BERNINA Events Team and can’t wait to share some amazing classes with you.
